Unveiled at the 2018 Geneva Motor Show, the new Toyota AYGO features an updated appearance that is as colourful, vibrant, and eye-catching as they come, and an improved level of road handling and engine performance that ratchets up the level of fun to be had on the roads. Toyota defines the new aesthetic of the model as ‘keen look’ and, when it comes to capturing the imagination and exuding youthful appeal, few would argue that the new AYGO is anything other than keen.
While the exterior look of the new Toyota AYGO is almost certain to appeal to the chic modern motorist, the updated cabin continues to deliver the same level of practicality that the supermini has been offered for years. Yet, with updated dashboard graphics, high-quality finishes, and comfortable upholstery as standard, each and every ride will offer the utmost in comfort. Available in a selection of trims - including the special edition ‘x-cite’ variant - such additions to the styling include body-coloured inserts to the gear-knob and air vents, as well as Manhattan seat fabric throughout.
Depending on the trim level you select - ‘x’, ‘x-play’, or ‘x-clusiv’, as well as special ‘x-cite’ and ‘x-trend’ editions - the level of on-board technology differs, but each can be relied upon to deliver great performance. The AYGO ‘x-play’ even makes it possible to fully tailor the elements you desire in the vehicle, while standard equipment includes air conditioning and a seven-inch multimedia touchscreen to keep you and your passengers informed and entertained during every journey. Of course, higher end models take the refinement a step further, with part-leather upholstery, automatic air conditioning, and smart entry available.
Safety is always a concern when buying a new vehicle. In the new Toyota AYGO, you can put your trust in a car that features myriad measures that work to keep you safe when out on the road. With the Toyota Safety Sense, a selection of technologies works to prevent or mitigate collisions. One of the most impressive of these features is the Pre-Collision System, which detects other vehicles appearing in front of the AYGO, prompting the driver with audio and visual alerts to hit the brakes to avoid any accident. Lane Departure Alert, meanwhile, monitors lane markings to raise an alert should you begin to deviate from them.
With the design of the AYGO updated, it would be folly for Toyota to forego improving performance. An award-winning, 998 cc, 3-cylinder, 12-valve VVT-i engine is now compliant with Euro 6.2 emissions standards, can accelerate to 100km/h in 13.8 seconds, and comes in Eco and standard versions. The model is therefore capable of achieving combined fuel economy of up to 72.4mpg, and features improved CO2 emissions for the eco-conscious motorist. With improved sound absorption, modified steering systems, and better suspension than before, the performance of the new AYGO is certain to excite.
