The Toyota Prius has been named the Best in Class 2016 Large Family Car by the independent safety organisation Euro NCAP.
The fourth generation Prius scored a top, five-star rating in the stringent testing carried out by Euro NCAP. With the Toyota Safety Sense active safety systems which are fitted as standard on all versions on the Prius proving their effectiveness during the testing and helping the model to achieve an outstanding 5-star rating.
The Prius also gained higher marks than any other model in its class, putting it firmly at the top of the leader board.
When announcing the best-performing cars from the 2016 programme, Euro NCAP commented on how the Toyota Prius was the first car to undergo its new test for automatic braking systems, saying of the Toyota Safety Sense feature “performed well and managed to recognise and avoid or mitigate potential crashes with pedestrians”.
