Ford C-Max review

The recently unveiled new Ford C-MAX has been restyled and refreshed. Just as fun to drive as its predecessor, the C-MAX features Ford's popular EcoBoost engine technology as well as an array of other driver-friendly gadgets.

The C-MAX's restyled exterior incorporates a redesigned front grille, framed by updated headlights and fog lamps. The striking lines of the bodywork exude a refined and aerodynamic aesthetic. There's also a palette of body colours to choose from, including the sporty Rush Red.

Inside, the new C-MAX has been designed around the principles of both practicality and versatility. With 432 litres of boot space it has excellent storage capabilities, and compartments dotted about the cabin provide handy stowing space too. In terms of gadgets the C-MAX is amply kitted-out. Titanium models boast USB connectivity, DAB radio, and the new SYNC2 multimedia touchscreen – which puts controls within easy reach of the driver.

In the engine department the C-MAX has impressive credentials. Although Ford has no plans to bring the 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine – 148bhp and a top speed of 126mph – to the UK, economical and environmentally friendly 1.0-litre units are available. The award-winning 1.0-litre EcoBoost engines are brilliantly frugal and have already sold on a significant scale.

Ford has gone to great efforts to maximise drive-experience with the new C-MAX – from tactile, comfortable upholsteries to an easy to navigate dashboard. Wind and noise reduction is excellent too – especially when driving on the motorway – and offers drivers and passengers alike a relaxing, serene journey.

Fun, clever, and great to drive, the new Ford C-MAX embodies thoughtful design.
