After being revealed at the 2016 Beijing Motor Show the 2017 Lexus IS has arrived at Lexus Teesside. Having undergone some significant changes the result is a sleeker look overall, with a prestige executive sports saloon which captures the essence of Lexus craftsmanship, luxury and performance.
What exactly are the changes you ask, we’ve given you an overview below:
The headlights have been given a more pronounced look, extending inwards and adding visual impact to the L-shaped daytime running lights. High luminosity LED units in a triple-L arrangement feature on F Sport and Premier grade models.
A more sporty appearance and the suggestion of a low centre of gravity has been achieved through the spindle grille which now angles back at a higher point, whilst a chrome frame surrounds the whole grille. F Sports models feature a new jet black finish and mesh design which transforms the L- to an F-shape pattern between the upper and lower sections.
New machine finish 17-inch alloy wheels add a strong character to Executive Edition, Advance and Luxury grades. Whilst the Premier grade benefits from 18-inch multi-spoke alloy wheel designs.
The rear lights have also undergone a redesign with new L-shaped LED lamps which display clear visibility to following vehicles.
The interior features a new high-resolution multi-media screen which has increased from 7 to 10.25 inches, delivering larger and clearer images and providing a split-screen functionality to display more information.
The steering wheel has taken styling from the Lexus RC coupe, with new metal ornamentation, revised stitching and re-shaped switches that adds to the pleasing feel. The high level of attention to detail doesn’t stop there as the interior features a revised start button at a different angle so it’s easier to operate.
New cup holders have been added alongside a satin finish for the gear lever, new markings on the analogue clock and a leather-wrapped and stitched palm rest for the Remote Touch Interface control.
A number of new interior upholstery and colour options are available, plus a brand new laser-etched wood trim finish on Premier grade models and Naguri machined-effect inlays for F Sport models with the optional Premier pack.
The dynamic driving performance of the Lexus IS has been improved through revisions to the front and rear suspension and steering. Delivering a better ride quality, rear-wheel traction, straight-line stability and steering response.
The IS now features Lexus’ breakthrough Safety System+ pack as standard (Except on the entry level IS 300h SE). With safety features including Pre-Crash Safety, Lane Keeping Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Traffic Sign Recognition and Automatic High Beam.
