The 2017 Ford Fiesta is revealed

Ford have unveiled the next generation Ford Fiesta at a special "Go Further" event in Cologne, Germany. With Ford's European president Jim Farley and Ford's CEO Mark Fields revealing not one but four production variants of the all-new Fiesta to an audience of 2,500 dealers, employees and media.

As the UK's best-selling car of all time the new Fiesta has a lot to stand up to, but as the world's most technologically advanced small car we don't think it will disappoint. Following the drop of base models from the current Fiesta range, after the arrival of the Ka+ the new Fiesta takes on a more grown-up appearance but is still instantly recognisable.

The new Fiesta is being launched in four distinctive variants, including the core model the stylish Fiesta Titanium, the Ford Performance-inspired Fiesta ST-Line, the luxurious Fiesta Vignale and the Fiesta Active crossover - which is the first in a new line-up of Active vehicles to feature in the Ford range in the future.

Jim Farley, executive vice president and president, Europe Middle East and Africa, Ford Motor Company stated, "We now have a Fiesta option for every driver, including the luxurious Fiesta Vignale and the Fiesta Active crossover, with advanced technologies and features that small-car customers could only have dreamed of just a few years ago."

With its elegant exterior the new Fiesta delivers a more upscale appearance, building on the bold styling of the outgoing Fiesta with a sophisticated design and more transitional appearance. Confirming Ford's want for the model to grow, the body is 71mm longer and 12mm wider, providing additional cabin space and a longer and more premium appearance whilst retaining its 'Fiesta-nees'.

Joel Piaskowski, direction, Design, Ford of Europe explained, "We envolved the design to make it more contemporary, yet not lose the 'Fiesta-ness' that the customers love. The next generation Fiesta is refined, yet much more sculpted with an equally emotional appeal. Fiesta's exterior is visually simpler, allowing us to create stronger personalities within the expanded line-up, each with distinct fascias, grilles and details that will appeal to a much broader range of customers."

On the inside the ergonomic interior is influenced by customer interactions with smart devices and technology, and sees the introduction of a floating high-definition 8-inch touchscreen. Ford's SYNC 3 communications and entertainment system, allows drivers to use simple, conversational voice commands to control their audio, navigation and connected smartphones. Whilst the simple push of a button and saying "I need a coffee" will allow drivers to locate nearby café and coffee shops, alongside other useful voice commands to locate close-by petrol stations, car parks, hotels etc.

A premium Bang & Olufsen PLAY Sound System features in the Fiesta, the first to feature in any Ford and exclusive to Ford's vehicle line-up. In the Fiesta this offers 10 speakers, a boot-mounted subwoofer and a central mid-range speaker for an elevated audio experience.

Leaping forward with a range of class-leading driver assistance features, the Fiesta has a range of technologies to enhance the comfort, convenience and safety of its drivers and passengers including Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, Ford's Active Park Assist with Perpendicular Parking, Traffic Sign Recognition, Auto High Beam and Cross Traffic Alert, just to name a few.

Under the bonnet you can choose from Ford's multi-award winning 1.0 litre EcoBoost petrol engine with a new six-speed manual gearbox (or optional six-speed automatic gearbox) or the 1.5 litre TDCi engine which is the first high-power diesel to be offered in a Fiesta.

The new Ford Fiesta offers a sophisticated design, the latest in-car features and fuel efficient engine choices, and we can't wait for it to land in our showroom.
