As the best-selling car in the UK, it’s hard to imagine that the Ford Fiesta could get any better, but there’s a brand-new model that’s even more enjoyable to drive. Svelte in style and fitted with lots of new technologies, it’s set to be just as popular, if not even more.
Sportier and more sophisticated, the new Ford Fiesta has a softly-sculpted body with subtle contours and a curved bonnet. There are lots of personalisation options, with two-tone colour designs with contrasting paint on the roof, chrome slats or a gloss black honeycomb in the grille, and an optional spoiler. The simple interior design is centred on the large touchscreen in the dashboard, and the car is larger than before offering more room all-round. Premium trim levels build in a panoramic sunroof to make your driving experience that bit more special in summer.
Have your Fiesta your way with nine trim levels to choose from. The popular Zetec includes a 6.5-inch touchscreen, to which the Titanium variants adds satellite navigation. The ultra-stylish Vignale has heated seats along with a range of luxurious fixtures. ST-Line variants boast a suite of sporty additions, and the B&O Play trims have surround sound.
Engine choices range from a 1.1-litre TI-VCT petrol unit to the 1.0-litre EcoBoost up to the 1.5-litre Duratorq diesels. Power outputs start at 68bhp through to 1438bhp with many engines boasting 83bhp. It’s a frugal car, returning around 65mpg on the combined cycle. Go for a diesel and you could see your car doing up to 88mpg.
Every Fiesta enjoys a prime driving position with controls close by the steering wheel and a strong road view. As soon as you step up from the entry-level to the Zetec, your driving experience will become much more intuitive. There’s a 6.5-inch touchscreen with DAB digital radio and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto that connect to your smartphone so you can use the apps while on the move.
Every Fiesta is fitted with Lane Departure Warning to prevent you from veering on the motorway, and ESP to keep you on a controlled course around corners. Choose the Titanium X or Vignale to get a rear-view camera for safer parking.
